Ingredients
  

Proteins
  • 1 lb chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, fish, or tofu Use firm tofu that is pressed and cubed for the best taste.
Vegetables
  • 2 cups a mix of colorful vegetables like broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, snap peas, and bok choy
Sauces
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or fish sauce For umami flavor.
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar Adds a hint of sweetness.
Aromatics
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced Enhances the flavor.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
Cooking Oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil, peanut oil, or sesame oil For high heat cooking.
Optional Toppings
  • 2 tbsp green onions, sliced or cilantro For garnish.
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice proteins thinly against the grain for tenderness and prepare all vegetables uniformly.
Cooking
  1. Heat a wok over high heat and sear the protein until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from the wok.
  2. Add more oil if necessary and sauté aromatics until fragrant for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  3. Add vegetables starting with the longest-cooking varieties (like carrots) and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until vibrant.
  4. Add the previously cooked protein back to the wok and stir to combine for another minute.
  5. Mix sauce ingredients together and pour over the stir fry, tossing to combine.
  6. Remove from heat and add leafy aromatics. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For make-ahead options, chop vegetables and marinate proteins in advance.
